Don't let it hit you in the...

Those of us who have lived in the building, for at least a short while, must be aware of the loud noises that can eminate from the hallway. So it's hard for me to believe that people don't realize that great amount of noise created by letting their door slam shut, rather than by closing it. These doors make a huge racket when their slammed...dont they? Is it just me?

  1. Has anyone else read the fine print at the bottom of the "At Your Service" posters that are plastered all over the building? It reads "This is a resident event ONLY. Residents hereby release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue and hold harmless InterSolutions Inc., Greystar Management, and/or the Jefferson at Capitol Yards from any and all liability, claims, costs and expenses whatsoever arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury that may be sustained in contracting services with the above vendors."

I don't remember releasing, waiving, discharging, or covenanting anything. Must be a new rule.

  2. What in the HELL are these weird signs that management posted vendors in the building?

And for the love of god can they PLEASE FIX THE ELEVATOR??!! THIS IS RIDICULOUS.

  3. These crappy doors and crappy walls aren't the tenants fault. The walls are thin (I can hear my neighbor everytime they take a piss) and the doors are heavy and slam. Period. Shoddy building materials and shoddy handy work. My door slams all the time. I don't mean for it to, I don't like when it does, but the damn door slams.

  4. Yes, our neighbor constantly slams everything in sight at 11:30pm when I assume he/she come home from work. I know the front doors will slam loudly, which is why you have to hold it when it closes. I know we can't change the fact that the walls are thin, but would be nice if my neighbor wouldn't slam 5-6 things at 11:30pm which shakes the wall in my bedroom and wake me up every night. I am going to write them a note because I can't take it anymore.

  5. I can't say I've ever really noticed the doors slamming at all. Must just be in a spot where it doesn't affect my apartment. The elevator would be annoying if I didn't live on the second floor, though.

  6. It's really easy just to let the door come to a gentle close in your hand and it takes no time at all.

Snake, I'm glad it's not a problem for you, but on my floor it's constant. People rush out the door and just let it swing shut. Perhaps if they didn't close by themselves people could be more cognizant of it.

It seems to be a problem with new tenants also, who haven't figured out the whole dynamic.

DFT. I'm with you and I understand. It is the building construction that is the problem, but now it's our problem and that's what we have to work with. I hear my upstairs neighbor taking a pee every morning. I hear not only my next door neighbor talking on the phone, but also the the person they're talking to. Both are loud talkers, but still. It makes me wonder what I'm doing to disturb others.
