Man! The Saudi's have everything.

This is in response to a posting in the "Cerberus at the Gate" thread. I just couldn't resist.

First the quote:
"You live in an apartment building. If you don't want to live around people who are loud, buy a house. Otherwise, get a grip. People like to have a good time, and there's nothing wrong with taht. You don't like people drinking and getting wild on the weekends? Maybe you should move to Saudi Arabia...or get a house."

Wow! Where do I start with this weird bit of twisted logic?

Let me get this straight. Are you saying that you chose to live in an apartment building so you can be loud and "wild on the weekends" regardless of your neighbors? What congressman do you work for?

Do you realize that there are clauses in the lease that you signed specifically regarding other tenant's rights to a peaceful living environment? In fact that is the law in EVERY STATE because that's what people expect when they come home after a hard days work and plunk their hard earned dollars on their apartment. You should read your lease. Furthermore, if you become a problem to your neighbors you can be put out, not only by management, but by your neighbor bringing suit against you, so I suggest you do your partying quietly or do it elsewhere.

Obviously you are another sad case of a person not being able to differentiate the real world (no, not the MTV show) with college.

In case you haven't noticed, this is an apartment building not a dorm or your private party pad. What's it to you if someone in the building is here for a peaceful environment? Their silence is not disturbing you, but your noise has the potential for disturbing others. Get it?

In the worst economic environment in over 70 years this poster suggests "buying a house if you don't like living around noisy people." What a selfish and immature statement! Oh, and BTW, you obviously haven't lived in some of the suburban neighborhoods I have. I moved back into the city to get some peace and quiet for crying out loud!

So to recap genius: If you don't want to live near people who want peace and quiet GO BUY A HOUSE!

Axiom Resident Has a Facebook Page

Search for Axiom on Facebook for a new page run by one of the building's residents.
The page is for residents only and is an excellent place to meet your neighbors. Anyone wanna start a Jefferson page?.

Kilowatts and whatnots

TJ is curious as to much you pay each month on your electric bill?

I'm thinking mine has been a little high even though I hardly ever run the heat. I've been paying this winter, about $65 a month for a one-bedroom.

There are three factors that I think relate to its high cost.
1. The windows in my apartment are drafty as can be--the cold air just blows through them!
2. The gap under the front door is wide
3. The capacity of the hot water heater is pitiful.
We have soaking tubs in our units but I can't get more than maybe half a tub of hot water.

Number 1 & 2 can be addressed pretty simply. 3? Not so much!
