David Garber for ANC

I initially wasn't sure if I wanted to come down on one side or another for the local ANC position, but since this gentleman has had the foresight to contact me with his information, well, why not...

David is running for ANC in our district

From his Facebook page:
I've lived in Southeast DC for the past three years and absolutely love it here. But I'm not alone in thinking that our neighborhood has too much potential to let it develop without a conscientious representative asking the right questions, demanding good design and safe streets, and being supportive of quality businesses that want to open and thrive here.

Living in a developing neighborhood, we're all in this together. As commissioner, I will be a positive supporter and encourager of changes and improvements that matter most: more amenities, safer streets, and new development that looks great and functions well.

See the Discussions tab on his Facebook page for more on his issues.

  1. I would say he sounds great, except I won't be renewing my lease so I'll be moving from this area. So long Jefferson at Capitol Yards - you and your horrible management team have really ruined my experience in DC.

  2. My next post was going to be 10 Great Things About Living at the Jefferson. Maybe I need to rethink. There are a lot of unhappy tenants here. That's a shame. There is so much potential here.

  4. haha!

Reason #3 would be....NEW building management! Goodbye Melanie, hello someone who has customer service experience!

  5. There's been a lot of negativity on the blog--and rightly so--but I would like to highlight a few of the positive things about the building:
    1. The late night-early AM concierge: great guy, friendly and extremely helpful.
    2. The removal of the dead bushes out front and river stones now in place. Looks a millions times better.
    3. Whomever works on the fountain and keeps the courtyard clean; definitely a highlight of the building.

  6. Awesome! Thanks for brightening up things a bit.

  7. Agreed, late night guy is cool. Building service guys (3 of them, don't know their names) are cool. Cleaning lady is cool. That about wraps it up.

Management should be careful not to throw their new river stones at their glass house.

Good thing there are good building service people to keep this place *somewhat* together, or it would be in complete shambles.

So rock on building service for continuing to do your job even though you're understaffed and likely underpaid.

  8. How many people feel like leasing sold them a pipe dream?

  9. Is it really that bad there?

  10. Anonymous at 9:06. MOST Neighbors are friendly (I keep hearing about some bad ones, but personally I haven't run in to them). Apartments are big (appliances are skanky and often don't cut it). Building maintenance is pretty cool. But management is awful. The leasing office/management team is pretty terrible. I think most complaints come from tenants who are frustrated with them and/or the policies they put in place (making us feel like 1) we're children or 2) we're in jail or 3) both).

  11. I second DFT's compliments of the neighbors and especially building maintenance. The concierges are also very nice I think, they just get thrown under the bus by management. All in all, a great place to live if you can live with really horrendous building management.

  12. A message to Dave Garber. It might be in your best interest to engage some of these building tenants - most of us here will leave due to the poor management of the building, which is unfortunate.
