Carryout Ninja's invade the building

Every month or so I get several menus slipped under my door from a Chinese, Indian, or pizza carryout. It's always the same ones and I really don't need multiple copies, so what I'm wondering is...how do they get here?

Is the front office delivering them? I doubt it. If not, then it must be the carryout person. Is it being done surreptitiously or with the knowledge of the rental office?

In any event, maybe the carryout would spend less on menu printing if it were to just leave some in the mail room or other strategically placed area. Then those that want them can pick them up and we don't have strange people walking around the building.

Perhaps the building might create such an area, where announcements, freebies, whatever, can be offered. I know such things can get out of hand and messy, but if the concierge were to place them, they could keep the area neat and current. Just a thought.

  1. Typically they get in by (duh) making a delivery. Once they're in, they can freely traipse around dropping their menus until they're done. No real way to stop this unless management decides to escort them to the delivery point.

  2. Thanks for the comment snake. Of course making a delivery is the method in with these folks gain access, however there are a number of solutions to stop them from traipsing around the building. The simplest and most obvious would be to have the person placing the order pick up their order at the desk. No delivery person should ever be allowed to get beyond the front desk!

  3. I thought all visitors had to show picture ID after the April assault in the building - what happened to that practice?

  4. All visitors, including your food deliveries MUST wait in the lobby for you to come pick up the food.

  5. I'm assuming this last comment is from the rental office. If so, the policy is obviously not being properly administered. It's one thing to command that food deliveries MUST be met by tenants, but it's up to the rental office and concierge to enforce it.

  6. I agree that the best solution is to have delivery wait at the front desk... kinda takes away from the "getting food delivered to your door" aspect of it, but it eliminates unauthorized access.

  7. It's not so bad. You just take the elevator down. Beats hopping in the car or walking doesn't it?

  8. Back to the posting area, I always thought it would be nice to have a bulletin board in the mail room, instead of random flyers taped anywhere to the wall. Also, the notes in the elevator, which are not even always in every elevator, are difficult to read, for those of us on lower floors with a very short elevator ride.
And yes, management and concierge need to be more careful not to allow the delivery people to get past the front desk.

  9. I'm not sure what that area near the coffee machine is really used for, but it could be a little information/lounge area pretty easily. The front desk could keep an eye out that people don't just dump flyers there or other unwanted or useless info. Otherwise, that space is kind of just a wasted area.
